On October 30, Molly Prewett was born in St. Mungo's Hospital exactly three weeks and two days before her scheduled due date. The Healers did everything they could, but Molly still had trouble breathing after a few days in a Quarantined oxygen tank. The Healers told Bridget and William that their newborn child may not last very long -- one year, at the very most. Nevertheless, they brought her home and decided that no matter what, she was still their daughter. They treated her just like they would have their twins, Gideon and Fabian, except perhaps with a little more caution. About eight months later, the Healers told Mr. and Mrs. Prewett that Molly's health was improving, and she should survive with minimal breathing problems. Molly was a miracle, they said.
Even if she was a miracle, the Prewetts still handled Molly with extra care. Bridget taught her sons to always look out for Molly because she was younger and more fragile than they were. Gideon in particular took that quite literally, constantly keeping watch over his younger sister. When Molly was about to turn ten, Gideon and Fabian received a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her parents were so proud, but Molly found herself extremely jealous and overcome with grief. She didn't want her brothers to leave her, selfish as it sounded. She also thought that she would never get into Hogwarts -- her parents had said it was rather doubtful, in her condition. Molly was incredibly upset, and that year was extremely hard for her. She practically begged her parents to let her go to a muggle public school, but her parents didn't have the money to keep her away and wanted her to stay close to home, with them. Almost an agonizing year later, Molly got the letter. Her parents were shocked, but Molly was extremely excited. She packed her bags then and there. Her parents weren't convinced, though. It wasn't until Gideon and Fabian talked them into it that they were okay with it.
Molly fell in love with Hogwarts. She called it her second home. She enjoyed her studies, even if they were a little hard for her taste. She was very social, though, despite her brothers' attempts to hold her back. Molly has even kissed a few boys, but she will never tell her brothers that, ever. Her brothers worry about her breathing, but Molly always insists that she's fine, she's not fragile or delicate, and that she's perfectly capable of having fun with her peers. The one thing Molly had done her best to prove was that she could do things; she was a determined little soul, and if she decided she wanted to do something, then she would do it. Her brothers, being on the Quidditch team, had warned her that she wouldn't make it because of her medical history, but Molly practiced and practiced until she was able to try out in her third year. And Molly was good. She made it on the team as a Chaser without any difficulties. When time came around for students to be selected to study abroad, Molly had already picked her father's brain, writing out an uncharacteristically long, detailed essay on what she wanted to learn in the Muggle world and Dumbledore (after a long argument) agreed to let her go.
